Aquaman 2: ‘Worst DCEU movie’ – Is it true? + All Details

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Aquaman sequel worst DCEU movie screening

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the sequel to Aquaman fails its test screening and receives the title of the worst DCEU movie from critics.

Aquaman 2 flops even before its release

Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is a film that came into existence against all odds. It went through multiple ups and downs during its production and that seems to have significantly affected the film.

  • The critic’s reviews following the recent test screening of the Aquaman sequel are disappointing, to say the least. The insiders present consider it the worst movie of DCEU in desperate need of saving before it hits the theater later in the year.
  • Following this news, fans become eager to know the reasons behind such unanimously harsh reviews. The first installment of the Aquaman series featured the origin story of Arthur Curry. It was released in 2018 and was widely appreciated by the audience. Momoa pitched Aquaman 2 during the same year but the DCEU movie doesn’t seem a promising venture following its test screening.

What went wrong with Aquaman 2

The reviews for Aquaman 2 are a mess. Insiders claim people walked out in between the screening which is a rare occurrence for films let alone a DC movie. Insider Vieweranon was the first source relenting the news of a flopped screening. According to them, the first installment was better.

  • Following this, pandora’s box of reviews opened up staining the chances of the film’s unbiased viewing upon its eventual release. Some insiders claim it wasn’t even the first test screening. The film went through multiple screenings and tanked them all. BSL confirms all these rumored failures by stating, something never seen before occurred during the doom screening.

  • The film suffered from a lot of things during production. It faced the Amber Heard-Johnny Depp legal dispute, the pandemic, and the power shift in DCEU with the appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
  • All of these hurdles negatively affected the film causing it significant damage. There isn’t any particular confirmation of what exactly triggered such loud negative reactions. However, the long-suffering film seems to continue its hardships from the chain of brutal reviews.

Is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom worth seeing?

Following the failed test screening, makers don’t have much time left for post-production. However, the current reviews aren’t the ultimate fortune of the film. There have been multiple cases where critics’ claims were proven wrong about a film.

  • The audiences don’t always have the same lenses of consuming cinema as the critics, hence, Aquaman 2 still has a chance of turning the tables. However, the negative word-of-mouth following its screening will undoubtedly affect the film’s release.
  • While the film is half doomed, there is a chance of it being less disappointing due to raised expectations of Aquaman 2 being the worst film of DCEU. One thing is sure, beyond this point the film depends on the makers’ post-production efforts before reaching to audience’s mercy.
