After almost 10 years and countless leaks, Dead Island 2 is finally coming to major platforms

Dead Island 2 has been through a lot over the past years. The game was first announced to be in development back in 2014. However, it got canceled over and over again until gamers had little to no hope left in the sequel ever getting made.

But recently, leaks about Dead Island 2 have been popping up from all over. And after the showcase at Gamescom 2022, fans of the zombie game finally had an official release date.

Dead Island 2 is slated for a 2023 release. But not only that, the developers chose not to be vague anymore. Similar to Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Island 2 chose a February release date. The difference is Dead Island 2 releases a week early compared to the Harry Potter-inspired game.

If all goes well, we hope that the game actually releases on February 3, 2023. It’s been a long time coming for this zombie game and we don’t know if we can actually take another delay for the sequel.

As for which platforms the game will be available on, it’s coming to all major platforms except one: the Nintendo Switch.

Dead Island 2 will be available on the following platforms:

But of course, there’s still hope for the devs to create a Switch version of the game. We’ll make sure to keep our fingers crossed for you, Switch players.

What can we expect once Dead Island 2 drops?

From the trailer which premiered at the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022, it looks like the highly anticipated zombie game is back at it again. The trailer shows a man with bloodshot eyes but we don’t know whether he’s infected or not. He may just be hungover as there are alcohol bottles on the floor in the place he’s in.

One of the big reveals in the trailer was the man taking a good look at several corpses before he heads out with his gun. Then, he goes out onto the street where zombies immediately go over to him.

It’s obvious that he’s run into them before as he has no problem fighting them off with his gun. Throughout the trailer, the man’s strength and fearlessness is on full display. However, we also get a glimpse of other survivors and it seems they’re friendly with each other.

The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the story of the game. But from what we know so far, players have the ability to control any of the six characters as they try and survive in Los Angeles.

What makes your character different from others is you’re neither human nor zombie. You’re infected yourself but you have the power to fight off the urge to completely turn into a zombie.

Furthermore, each character has their own unique skillset. So you may want to take your time in selecting which one to play as if you really want to enjoy the game. Moreover, they have their own personalities which we think will make the game more enjoyable.
