The popular football simulation video game, FIFA, is without a doubt one of the biggest and best-selling sports games in the world. Due to a huge fanbase, it surpassed NBA 2k by almost 1 million total sold copies worldwide. (FIFA sold more than 9 million compared to NBA 2k’s 9 million). In this article, we will be talking about FIFA 23’s possible release date as well as everything we know about the game so far.
FIFA 22 Recap
- FIFA 22 featured the French superstar, Kyllian Mbappe as their cover.
At a very young age, the 23-year-old superstar is already named one of the best football players today. - EA featured their usual FIFA recipe in FIFA 22 like Career Mode, Seasons: Battle Online, Online Friendlies, Ultimate Team, and Pro Clubs, added with their newest mode – VOLTA.
- FIFA 22 was released on September 27, 2021.
- Last month, EA announced that they’re adding a cross-play for FIFA 22.
It is the first time that they are introducing this option into the game.

FIFA 23 Release Date and What We Know so Far
Release Date
FIFA 23 is fast approaching. Currently, EA Sports has no official announcement on when FIFA 23 will officially kick-off. But, the previous FIFA games were either released late in September or by early October. If EA continues the pattern, we’ll likely be seeing FIFA 23 between September 26 to October 9. Again, these are just speculations but the chances the release date falls on these days are pretty high.
FIFA 23 x CrossPlay
As mentioned above, FIFA 22 is already being introduced to cross-play. Although it is still currently in the testing stage, cross-play in FIFA 23 could potentially be on its way. In line with that, FIFA 23 will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S but there is no announcement on a PS4 and Xbox One release yet.
World Cup 2022 in FIFA 23
The much-awaited international football tournament, the World Cup, is set to take place in Qatar on November 21, 2022. Ahead of this highly anticipated event, there are already reports that FIFA 23 could incorporate the Qatar World Cup into the game just like how they added the Russia World Cup (2018) for FIFA 18.
The First Ever Women’s League IN FIFA
There are rumors that EA Sports will be adding several women’s leagues in FIFA 23 for the first time. Leagues like the National Women’s Soccer, FA Women’s Super League, and the D1 Arkema could make their first appearance in the game.
FIFA 23, The Last Game in the FIFA Series
After EA announced the possibility of renaming the series after, FIFA 23 could be the last game in the series. But, it does not mean it’s going to end there. It will just be renamed, not abolished. Going forward, FIFA will be renamed EA Sports FC.
FIFA 23 Cover Player
The leading football player as the next cover player for FIFA 23 is currently Riyad Mahrez. Although Kylian Mbappe, the former cover player, won the Ligue 1 Player of the Year, the French phenom only ranks 7th in the voting. To see who the current leaders in voting are today, click here.
On a side note, FIFA 22 is still being offered as a free game on PlayStation Plus for May. Therefore, you have until June 7 to add this game to your library.
