The latest Final Fantasy title, FF16, was so popular that three million copies were sold in its first week alone. According to the game’s director, there might be DLC for Final Fantasy 16 in the future, making fans hopeful that their time in Valisthea is far from over. Here, we will discuss the possible story and new content in the rumored Final Fantasy 16 DLC.
Is Final Fantasy 16 DLC coming soon?
Since the release of the game, millions of players worldwide have been enjoying Final Fantasy 16. The game is acknowledged for its storyline, just like the previous Final Fantasy titles that hooked players thanks to the game plot.
Fans of the game have been asking for DLC as they thirst for more from this story-rich enjoyable Square Enix game. Regarding that demand, Naoki Yoshida, the director of the beloved Final Fantasy title, hinted that there might be some DLC in the future.
In an interview with GamerBraves, the Japanese producer stated that he listened to all the players asking for add-ons for the game.
“We now understand we’re getting feedback from players that have played the game, and lots of players want to see more, and we know that and understand that,” Yoshida says.
Yoshida stated that the initial goal of the production team was to create an experience that could be enjoyed independently without the need for DLC. Now that they have achieved this, he knows about the fan demand for more content.
“As you know, going into Final Fantasy 16, the one thing we wanted was to create a full complete story, something that you can enjoy beginning to end 100% without any DLC, and I think we were able to do that,” added Yoshida.
Yoshi-P was asked during the FF16 press tour in Malaysia on whether they have plans for DLC.
He says they heard feedback from players that they want to see more story within the world of Valisthea.

Although he did not clearly say there is such content in development, he expressed his hope that Square Enix will soon share some announcements when the time is right. From this statement, we can safely assume that Final Fantasy 16 DLC is coming in the future.
Possible DLC story and content
Final Fantasy titles are famous for their deep story gameplay. If there is a DLC in the future, the best bet is that Square Enix will add a more detailed storyline for Final Fantasy 16 lore.
One aspect of the story that fans are eagerly anticipating is the Leviathan story. The Leviathan is one of the 9 Eikons. Eight other Eikons are present in the game, all except Leviathan.
- Throughout Final Fantasy’s 35-year existence, Leviathan has repeatedly appeared as a massive sea serpent.
- The Leviathan can be seen in a mural in the game, where Joshua claimed, “Even Leviathan the Lost is here.”
- The story of Leviathan is still a mystery.
- This mystery would be a perfect story for the Final Fantasy 16 DLC.
