Which team Chris Smith played for before his death?

The 31-year-old began his sports career in high school, where he played for his school team at West Rowan High School in Mount Ulla, North Carolina. He then went on to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks during his college years, and in 2013, he was a second-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection.

After college, Smith was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fifth round of the NFL draft in 2014. After a few months on the practice squad, he was promoted to the active roster on October 20.

In 2017, Smith was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals. While playing for the team, Smith recorded a career-high of 26 tackles and three sacks. He later signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2018, signing a three-year contract with the team. The defensive end played in nine matches during his time with the Browns.

After Chris Smith’s contract with the Cleveland Browns ended, he moved to the Carolina Panthers. He signed a one-year contract with the team but was released on July 30, 2020. He then joined the Las Vegas Raiders in August 2020. Smith juggled between the bench and field throughout 2020 before being signed to the active roster in December 2020.

The next team he signed with was the Baltimore Ravens, but he did not stay with the team for long and joined the Houston Texans in November 2021. Smith stayed with the Texans for a year before signing with the Seattle Sea Dragons in March 2023. Throughout his NFL career, Smith recorded a total of 80 tackles.
