According to HoYoverse, the maintenance will begin on 16th August, 2023 at 06:00 (UTC +8) and last for a duration of 5 hours. The new update is going to take up a lot of storage on your device, so be sure to free up the space beforehand. The storage requirement for the respective devices is listed below.
- PC: Pre-installation package is between 32.0 – 34.2 GB, and 64.0 – 64.8 GB space is required for unzipping.
- Mobile (Android and iOS): Pre-installation package is between 8.1 – 10.0 GB and it will require a free space of at least 30 GB.
- PlayStation: A minimum of 100 GB free space is required for the update on PlayStation consoles.
Like always, the developers are going to compensate you with 300 Primogems for the maintenance.

New Areas and Quests
- Of course the primary attraction of the 4.0 update is the new Hydro Nation of Fontaine. Most of the players are eagerly waiting for this big new area after the conclusion of their journey across the vast land of Sumeru.
- This upcoming nation of justice is fictionalized after the real world country of France. As a result, you will be able to encounter gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing architectures all over the place. The NPCs around you will also flaunt their attires with a great sense of fashion.

- You are going to find and collect plenty of new useful items and resources from engaging with the open world. Then, you can use them for a variety of purposes- from making tasty new dishes to upgrading weapons and characters.
- You will discover and enter new domains for gathering necessary materials and artifacts around the landscape of Fontaine.
New Wildlife and Bosses
- You should come across various animals that might or might not be hostile to you while roaming around their habitats.
- The game will also be introducing two new bosses that you can defeat for resources. Out of them, the Icewind Suite is an elegant looking mechanical foe while the Emperor of Fire and Iron is a giant fierce crab.
New Underwater Gameplay
A major new gameplay update is going to be underwater exploration. You will be able to freely explore the water bodies of Fontaine by diving into them. You can swim around without worrying about an oxygen or stamina whee and interact with the wonders present within them. Note that this feature is going to be exclusive to the area of Fontaine.
