God of War: Ragnarok and Elden Ring are the top predictions for this category. Although the other nominees are well-deserving of the GOTY title, most players agree that Ragnarok and Elden Ring are on another level. This is the highly coveted award at an event like The Game Awards 2022 so naturally, people are expecting the best of the best to win. God of War: Ragnarok may have bagged a lot of wins, but Elden Ring is taking home the Game of the Year award. Congratulations, FromSoftware and BANDAI NAMCO!

Best Game Direction

Best Game Direction is another category with two PS-exclusive titles nominated. God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West are both nominated for Best Game Direction. However, both titles fell short of Elden Ring as FromSoftware’s massive title won in this category for The Game Awards 2022.

Best Narrative – WINNER

Elden Ring was the frontrunner for this award but God of War: Ragnarok came in at clutch. Despite having a complex and captivating story, Elden Ring couldn’t overtake God of War: Ragnarok in this category.

If you’re a big fan of Norse Mythology, it might be a great idea to get into Ragnarok over the holidays.

Best Art Direction

It’s undeniable that God of War: Ragnarok features a beautiful environment and landscape. However, it wasn’t enough to get the better of the top title Elden Ring.

Best Score and Music – WINNER

God of War: Ragnarok’s very own Bear McCreary took home the award for Best Score and Music at The Game Awards 2022. A lot of people in the gaming community expected Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to win this award.

Unfortunately, Bear McCreary (AKA Raeb from Raeb’s Tavern) swept in like an eagle with his emotional songwriting. At The Game Awards 2022, Hozier and Bear McCreary performed “Blood Upon the Snow” from the God of War: Ragnarok OST.

Best Audio Design – WINNER

Following the award for Best Score and Music, another win for God of War: Ragnarok this evening is Best Audio Design. In the same category, it faced off against some of the top releases this year. Aside from Horizon Forbidden West, other games nominated in this category are Modern Warfare II, Elden Ring, and Gran Turismo 7. It certainly looks like a great night for God of War: Ragnarok!

Best Performance – WINNER (Christopher Judge)

One of the first major awards presented at The Game Awards 2022 brought out a very special guest. When he first came out on the stage, we were expecting Al Pacino to scream the iconic, “Say hello to my little friend!” Alas, Mr. Pacino has put the past behind him and he’s at The Game Awards 2022 to present the award for Best Performance.

Both Kratos (Christopher Judge) and Atreus (Sunny Suljic) are nominated for Best Performance, so that really tipped the odds in their favor. As expected, Christopher Judge won the award for his stellar work as Kratos in God of War: Ragnarok. Boy, were we in tears with the emotional speech he gave. Congratulations to our God of Few Words!

Best Action/Adventure Game – WINNER

God of War: Ragnarok definitely did not fall short of delivering an action-packed adventure to warriors this year. As you travel across the Nine Realms on your journey to stop Odin, you’ll come across plenty of enemies that are challenging yet satisfying to beat.

God of War Ragnarok Secret Ending

This is one of its nominations at The Game Awards 2022 where it didn’t face off against Elden Ring. Promising titles like A Plague Tale: Requiem and Horizon Forbidden West were nominated in this category. However, they just weren’t enough to beat God of War: Ragnarok.

Innovation in Accessibility – WINNER

Most video games nowadays are adapting and catering to a larger audience of gamers. Games like God of War: Ragnarok includes accessibility features that can make the gaming experience more pleasant and comprehensible for more players.
