A lot of players have been bought by the franchise. One of the main objectives of the auction was to find a potential captain. Faf Du Plessis is one of the main contenders in the race.
RCB fended off a bidding war with Chennai Super Kings to buy Faf du Plessis for Rs 7 crore from the list of 10 marquee players. Du Plessis has been one of the most consistent players in the IPL so far. The former CSK star has scored 2935 runs in 100 matches in the IPL.

Moreover, Glenn Maxwell is also expected to become the captain. RCB has retained Australia’s Glenn Maxwell for 7 crores. Gavaskar, in conversation with Sports Tak, said that:
“I think if Glenn Maxwell is given the responsibility then a different kind of Maxwell will be seen in IPL. Last year he batted brilliantly probably keeping the mega auction in mind, but he was retained after that, which was good, I guess, for him.”
“We have often seen that players who bat well but score 30-40 runs quickly and get out without getting the job done- especially when suppose the team requires 70 or 80 runs more. But when these same players are given a responsibility then they played well showing better shot selection. So if Maxwell is given the captaincy, he will score more and play better.”

Final Decision Yet To Be Taken
- Mike Hesson, Director of Cricket Operations at Royal Challengers Bangalore, revealed that while the franchise has three leadership options. However, they are yet to have a discussion over it.
- The announcement of the captain will be made soon. If the team management doesn’t find anyone fit for the captaincy role then the team will approach Virat to become captain again.
