Jared Leto arrived at Met Gala red carpet dressed in a furry cat costume. The Suicide Squad actor was not alone as singers, Doja Cat and Lil Nas X also pulled at the event in feline outfits. Doja wore a white sparkly gown complete with a cat-like snout and pointy ears, while Lil Nas X wore a blinky cat-inspired ensemble and only replied in “meows.”
This year’s Met Gala theme Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty commemorated the late designer and creative head of Chanel. Celebrities celebrated the fashion icon with classic Chanel outfits, however, multiple others decided to honor the designer’s 11-year-old cat, Choupette.

Feline theme dominate this year’s Met Gala red carpet
Jared Leto is known for his wild Met Gala looks. We all remember when he brought a second head to the event in 2019. The House of Gucci actor walked the red carpet this year wearing a full white, furry cat outfit. The outfit resembled Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette, complete with light blue eyes and a pink nose.

Jared kept his face hidden under the large cat mask until he walked inside the venue. After which he took off the mask and clicked pictures for the media. He later took off the cat outfit to reveal a second outfit for the night. A black ensemble, including a bedazzled cape, blouse, pleated skirt, and black trousers. The Little Things actor is portraying Karl Lagerfeld in an upcoming biopic, which he is also producing. He told E! News:
“I’m playing Karl in a film. The first time I met him, I said to him, ‘You know, one day I’ve got to be you on film.’ That he said to me, ‘Only you, my love. Only you.'”

Pop singer Doja Cat took a similar route with her cat makeup and pointy ears. Doja wore a hooded gown by Oscar de la Renta that had cat ears on the hood. The sparkly backless gown had a mermaid fit, with a short feather train. The dress took 5,000 hours of work and showcased 350,000 silver and white bugle beads.
Doja completed her Met Gala look with head jewelry and sharp, cat-like nails. To enhance her feline appearance, she even adorned a prosthetic snout.
Lil Nas X also decided to pay tribute to Choupette in his silver getup. The Grammy winning-musician arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art covered in silver bodypaint, embellished with Swarovski crystals and pearls. The Montero singer dared it all in silver boots, a pair of silver underwear, and a jeweled cat mask. He completed his look with long stiletto nails covered in sparkle.

Several other celebrities also integrated the celebrity cat into their outfits. James Corden, for example, matched the Choupette eye with his blue suit, while singer Janelle Monae carried a white cat purse. Additionally, Chloe Fineman accessorized her outfit with a pink bejeweled cat handbag.
Karl Lagerfeld’s cat didn’t attend the event
According to sources, Choupette was invited to the Met Gala, however, the 11-year-old did not attend the event. She informed her Instagram followers through a post, writing:
“A million thanks to all of you my fans, animal lovers & Daddy’s admirers. You have all shown the kindest enthusiasm and unconditional support … Many people have invited me to walk the red carpet of the #MetGala2023 in tribute to Daddy, but we preferred to stay peacefully & cozy at home.”
The cat added:
“We pay tribute to my Daddy every day since his parting and we are very moved to see one more day dedicated to him. With love, forever Choupette.”
