K-pop and the fashion industry became hand-in-hand as the years went by. K-pop idols attending the Met Gala isn’t a shock to many anymore. This Met Gala 2023, however, few Korean stars and idols gather for this year’s carpet, and a question whether the BTS attend the gala. Hmm, pretty sure you know BLACKPINK Jennie Kim and GOT7 Jackson Wang, and if you’re waiting for them to slay Met Gala, then this 2023’s the time!
The Met Gala is a fundraiser event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, hence the event’s name. It is organized by Vogue. This event gathers celebrities around the globe and designers to create and showcase different looks that fit the Met Gala’s theme annually. This year, Met Gala pays tribute to the German designer Karl Lagerfeld with the theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”
K-pop idols at Met Gala 2023
With the rumors going around just before this biggest fashion event, K-pop idols’ names surfaced along with all other attendees. K-pop and K-drama fans, we may have spotted a few big names in the industry who attended this year’s fashion event!

Of course, we didn’t miss out on The Glory star Song Hye-Kyo in the Red Carpet! The South Korean actress glamorously donned a pale pink-laced long dress from Fendi. The actress’ surprise appearance got fans excited and in awe with Hye-Kyo’s beauty and grace. With a braided style and hair shaping her face, Song Hye-Kyo is such a breathtaking beauty at the Met Gala 2023.

1) BLACKPINK Jennie Kim
With the historic headlining at Coachella 2023, and the recent Born Pink World Tour, BLACKPINK’s JENNIE didn’t miss showcasing her fashion and beauty at the Met Gala 2023 Red Carpet. Jennie Kim made history for herself as she attends her first-ever Met Gala this year!
Of course, what do we expect from the “human Chanel”? BLACKPINK Jennie Kim is all dolled up in a full Chanel outfit. She wears the vintage Chanel white mini dress fancied by a white rose and black ribbon belt. This came from Chanel’s 1990 Autumn collection, making it an archival Chanel fit that fits her small figure perfectly.
To complete the Met Gala 2023, BLACKPINK Jennie Kim accessorized with black tights and heels. It matched her opera gloves and her simple ribbon choker. Her hair is styled with a headband braid while her long hair flows on her back.
2) GOT7 Jackson Wang
After being part of the Coachella 2023 line-up, he also attended his first Met Gala Red Carpet, GOT7’s Jackson Wang appeared in an all-black fit. Jackson Wang’s all-Louis Vuitton fit pays tribute to Karl Lagerfeld’s signature look. He just finished his concert in Vancouver, and now he just wonderfully slayed the Met Gala 2023 Red Carpet.

Wang dyed his hair in an ashy color to similarly pull off Lagerfeld’s white locks. Instead of a German tuxedo, Wang wore a Louis Vuitton black military jacket paired with black almost-fitted slacks, and shining black shoes.
And to perfectly mirror the German designer, GOT7’s Jackson Wang wore Karl Lagerfeld’s signature accessories: black gloves and sunglasses. Not gonna lie, the outfit perfectly fits GOT7 Jackson’s features, and at the same time stick to the theme of the Met Gala. The military jacket that hugged Wang’s physique is to die for!
Did BTS attend Met Gala 2023?
Among many idol names’ brought up, BTS SUGA, and Jimin became the talk of the town. Unfortunately, neither of the two BTS members attended the Met Gala 2023. This may have dismayed some ARMYs for missing seeing their idols at the biggest fashion event, but this isn’t the last time! Maybe we can see members of BTS walk along the Red Carpet of the Met Gala in the near future, and we can’t wait for that to happen!
Idols that attended the previous Met Gala events
When we told you that K-pop idols joining the Met Gala 2023 isn’t a shock, you should know about the previous idols that walked along the Red Carpet of this fashion event. In 2013, PSY, the Gangnam Style singer, attended the Met Gala. In the same year, actor and SUPER JUNIOR Choi Siwon also showed up.
- In 2015, South Korean actor and K-pop singer, Rain graced the Met Gala Red Carpet, while in 2019 EXO’s Lay came to the coveted event. In 2021, numerous K-pop idols were present at the Met Gala.
- This includes soloist and 2NE1 member, CL, which made noise with her Alexander Wang denim coat over white briefs. BLACKPINK Rosé also attended wearing a black and white Yves Saint Laurent dress, while NCT’s Johnny wore a black Peter Do suit.
