The actor was born on January 4, 1958, in West Yorkshire, England. Julian Sands started his film career in 1984, appearing early in Oxford Blues and The Killing Fields.

However, his breakthrough came in 1985 in the period drama, A Room with a View, opposite Helena Bonham Carter. He played the title character in the Warlock movies and supporting roles in films like Impromptu, Boxing Helena, and Leaving Las Vegas.
