NBA: What Does the Future Hold for LeBron and the Lakers?

Los Angeles, California – There are 24 remaining games for the Lakers this season, but they are more likely to be in the play-in spot. They’re sitting at the 9th seed (27-31) and it’s doubtful they’re going higher on a loaded western conference.

If the play-in games start today, they will be facing the 10th seed Portland Trailblazers. If they manage to get past the Blazers, they will match up with whoever wins between the Clippers and the Wolves to get to the 8th spot.

The LA Lakers all-star trio of LeBron, Davis, and Westbrook did not work as expected. Although James is still playing like a God, Russell Westbrook, on the other hand, is not quite performing well. Added with Davis’s nagging injuries, this team looks really bad from the get-go.

His future with the Lakers is now questionable, as he already announced that he’s willing to play in any team where his son, LeBron James Jr. (Bronny), gets drafted.

“My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point,”
– LeBron said during an interview via The Athletic.

He still has a year left in his contract with LA (2022-2023). If things go south, we can safely assume that LBJ won’t be a Laker the season after next.

The media, as well as the fans, have thoughts about King James sending out cryptic messages regarding his status with the team (Lakers).

Let’s break down some of the comments and messages he made just recently:

• He has stated that he wants to play his last season with his son, Bronny
• LBJ has high praises for the Oklahoma City Thunder GM, Sam Presti. He called Presti the “MVP” in that organization for drafting Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Jeff Green, Ibaka, Reggie Jackson, Josh Giddey, and more.
• James has also previously commented on a possible return to Cleveland Cavaliers, saying “The door is not close on that”
