During the weekend, the New York Giants made a huge comeback against the Arizona Cardinals. But, their celebration was met with sadness after Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley suffered an injury.
Giants fans were devastated after seeing Barkley limping on the field. The 26-year-old star was helped off and rushed to the bench. In another angle, Barkley’s leg was twisted while he was in a pile. As a result, the young Giants RB suffered an ankle injury with just about a minute left in the game. The Giants, however, won the game against the Cardinals, 31-28. Saquon Barkley was a huge contributor by posting two touchdowns (one receiving and one rushing). While on the sidelines, Giants trainers were seen taping and icing Barkley’s foot. After the game, sources revealed that the star running back’s ankle was very swollen.

How bad is Saquon Barkley’s injury?
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the New York Giants believe Barkley’s injury wasn’t serious. Reports said that Barkley suffered a sprained ankle, but the X-Ray results came back negative. However, the 2018 second-overall pick still has to undergo an MRI in order for the Giants to confirm and deliberate his status. The Giants will be facing off against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday.
Sources: X-Rays on Saquon Barkley’s ankle came back negative (meaning nothing is broken).
The next big step: I’m told the #Giants’ star RB will have an MRI tomorrow.
Again, the team believes Barkley didn’t suffer a serious injury, but the MRI will be its final confirmation. https://t.co/OItD3Qmw1e

In a YouTube video, Brian Sutterer explained how Saquon Barkley managed to injure his ankle. According to the medical doctor, it was during a play when the Cardinals’ linebacker Krys Barnes was trying to hold down Giants RB Barkley. Barnes lunging his body onto Barkley’s foot was perhaps the reason why the latters’ ankle twister. On the other hand, Sutterer thinks Barkley’s recovery time could be a month or so, depending on his MRI results. Despite that, the NFL star and the New York Giants are optimistic about his return.
