Pokémon Paldean Winds is a short animated web series similar to the Twilight Wings, which came out after the Pokémon Sword and Shield game. As for Paldean Winds, the anime will follow the story of three characters; Aliquis, Hohma, and Ohara.  It is based on the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet video game which was released in 2022.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is the first open-world video game which is also a part of the main series. There are different routes and stories. There is no definite path for the players to follow, they can visit the gyms in whichever order they please. The anime might make use of these stories.

Trailer breakdown

The trailer features the three main characters along with their starter Pokémons. Ohara, who’s the red-haired female, might have a musical theme. As Skeledirge, Fuecoco’s evolved form is categorized as a singer Pokémon. There are glimpses of different locations of the Paldea region, including shots of the academy. During Pokémon Presents, Takato Utsunomiya mentioned that the characters will be academy students.

Besides that, the flute in the trailer might be an indication of an important plot point. We also got to see some familiar faces from the games like Nemona, Arven, and Clavell from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Nemona and Arven are the player’s rivals and Clavell is the director of Naranja/Uva Academy depending on which version of the games the anime leans towards.

The animation and overall quality of the Pokémon short series have improved over time. Fans are especially happy and hopeful about Paldean Winds. Studio Wit has previously worked on another Pokémon series, titled ‘Hisuian Snow’ which is reassuring for the fans. Pokémon Paldean Winds will hopefully be another spectacular addition to titles such as Pokémon Evolutions, Pokémon Generations, and Twilight Wings.
