PS5 Slim Announced for November: Pics, Price, Where to Buy

Sony has announced the PS5 Slim and it’s coming this November. It comes in a new classy look, a smaller form factor, paired with an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and a 1TB SSD. The new PS5 Disc will start selling in November at $499.99 USD, and the PS5 Digital at $449.99 USD.

In case you purchase the PS5 Digital and for some reason want the disc drive later, you could purchase it separately for $79.99 USD. You’ll get a horizontal stand with every new unit while the vertical stand, sold separately, will cost you $29.99 USD.

The new PS5 has a reduced volume of more than 30%, 18% and 24% in weight. Here’s how much it’ll cost for different regions:

PS5 Slim Price in the US

• In the US, the PS5 Slim Disc will cost $499.99 USD and the PS5 Slim Digital will cost $449.99 USD.

PS5 Slim Price in Europe

• In Europe, the PS5 Slim Disc will cost €549.99 EUR and the PS5 Slim Digital will cost €449.99 EUR.

PS5 Slim Price in the UK

• In the UK, the PS5 Slim Disc will cost £479.99 GBP and the PS5 Slim Digital will cost £389.99 GBP.

PS5 Slim Price in Japan

• In Japan, the PS5 Slim Disc will cost ¥66,980 JPY and the PS5 Slim Digital will cost ¥59,970 JPY.

Console covers such as an all-matte Black, Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver will be available starting in 2024 at $54.99 USD.

Where to buy the new PS5 Slim units

The new PS5 Slim Disc and Digital version will be sold at select retailers and PlayStation Direct. From experience, we think the retailers will be GameStop, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, and you could also look out for bundles on retailers such as Antonline. Given the demand for the PS5 and their never-ending stock issues, it might be a little hectic to purchase one as soon as they drop. Here’s a rough comparison of how smaller and leaner the new PS5 Slim models are compared to the older ones:

The new PS5 Slim Disc model is of the dimensions 358 x 96 x 216 mm compared to the older model of 390 x 104 x 260 mm (height x width x depth). The PS5 Digital is 358 x 80 x 216 mm compared to the older model of 390 x 92 x 260 mm.

Sony has stated that once the older units are out of inventory at any given retailer, the new Slim units will be the only ones in circulation.
