The Netflix Original Record of Ragnarok has stirred quite an ironic reaction among fans. Mainly because while a good lot abhor it as a very mid-rated Anime, some seem to bite what they chew. With Record of Ragnarok Season 2 part 1 having been released, we bring you a recap of the major things that happened.
Record of Ragnarok Season 2 was released on January 26th. With Part 1 consisting of ten episodes, fans await the release of Part 2. Distributed by Netflix, the series’s production is actually done by Warner Bros Japan.
Season 1 recap
- Written and directed by Masao Okubo, Record of Ragnarok entails the story of mankind having to find godkind. The premise is rather simple.
- All the gods imaginable from all mythologies – from Norse, Greek to Hindu, gather in a roundtable conference. Their objective? The future of mankind (of course).
Record of Ragnarok plot sees mankind going against gods
The gods come to a unanimous decision that mankind must be eradicated (of course). For they have polluted the Earth and thus the cosmos far too much. And not polluted in a modern sense, but in a metaphorical sense.
Their greed, lust, and hatred for one another have consumed the universe way too much. As such, it is the only rationale for the gods to eradicate the pebbles.

- Yet when all hopes seem lost a representative of mankind rises to the occasion. One of the 13 Valkyries of Valhalla, Brunhilde interrupts the meeting and gives the gods a proposal.
- She proposes to enact Ragnarok, in which 13 mortals will fight 13 gods in one-on-one matches. The result of the trials is decided by the adjudicating gods.
Brunhilde then enacts the 13 strongest mortals from Earth’s 1000-year history in order to win Ragnarok.
What happened in the finale of Record of Ragnarok Season 2 part 1?
Record of Ragnarok Season 2 Part 1 closes the fifth round. With the final match being between Shiva and Raiden. The match concludes (by the end of Part 1) in Shiva’s favor. As Raiden ends up expanding all his energy, he admits defeat.
Although the fifth round is won by the gods themselves, Zeus as of late has been cautious of the human strength. It has come to his senses that the mortals are by no means any less of warriors. The one to go for the sixth round as per Zeus’ pick is Buddha himself.

Although I suppose with just how many notable gods are participating in this fictional story, almost all gods can have a ‘this god himself’ phrase added.
But here’s the twist, Buddha will be representing Mankind. This is foreseeable given how Buddha was a human before he ascended to enlightenment. Fighting Buddha for the Gods will be Zerofuku.
The continuation of the Sixth round shall ensue in Record of Ragnarok Season 2 Part 2.
