After a long wait, Bethesda has finally announced a release date for its long-awaited space-exploration title, Starfield. Players will be able to explore the game’s universe on September 6, 2023.
Bethesda also revealed that its next upcoming event, Starfield Direct, will take place on June 11, 2023. The developers will be giving more information about the game during this event and possibly new gameplay footage to show off the final product as well.
Starfield now has a release date set for Fall 2023
The release was announced with a new trailer showing what the game has to provide with a message from Todd Howard, the director of Starfield. He addressed the excitement surrounding the project and Betheda’s perspective as the title has been in development for a long time.
Starfield was originally supposed to release on November 11, 2022. However, it was later delayed with an announcement made in May 2022. This was done because Bethesda needed a little more time to give a polished game and avoid a Cyberpunk 2077-type incident.
Fans got their first look at the new open-world game back in E3 2018. At that time, the developers didn’t reveal much other than a planet with a spaceship near it. This was enough hint that the game would feature exploration on a foreign planet.
However, this expectation was soon surpassed with a gameplay reveal back in July 2022. Bethesda showed the expanse of Starfield’s world by teasing 1,000 explorable planets. The information is difficult to take in as the biggest AAA game map is only 55 miles² (Assassin’s Creed Black Flag). As a result, the developers are breaking all norms about a standard open-world game.
