“The Penguin” series continues to build an impressive roster of talent, with Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti in lead roles. The Irish actor, Colin Farrell, had an incredible year in 2022, delivering captivating performances in “After Yang,” “Thirteen Lives,” and “The Banshees of Inisherin,” earning him a Golden Globe award and nominations for both the BAFTA and Oscars this year.

  • While, Cristin Milioti, best known for her role in “How I Met Your Mother” and her critically acclaimed performance in “Palm Springs.” Milioti plays Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Carmine Falcone, and a fierce opponent of The Penguin in the battle for control of Gotham.

In an exclusive reveal by Variety, Michael Zegen, James Madio, and Scott Cohen have been cast in recurring roles. HBO Max hasn’t revealed any character details, but according to Variety’s sources, Zegen sets to play Alberto Falcone.

  • Zegen, known for his role in the award-winning series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” will be playing Alberto Falcone, the son of crime boss Carmine Falcone, who was portrayed by John Turturro in “The Batman.”
  • Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, and Clancy Brown join HBO Max’s star-studded series. “The Penguin” series continues to generate excitement as it brings together a talented group of actors to explore the gritty world of Gotham City’s criminal underworld.

What to expect?

Lauren LeFranc creates the upcoming miniseries. Matt Reeves’ involvement in the production of both The Batman and The Penguin ensures a continuity of tone and style between the two projects, creating a cohesive Gotham City universe that fans of the Batman mythos are sure to enjoy.

Colin Farrell also assured fans in an exclusive report from Collider, “Matt Reeves is all over it. And sure Matt is borderline OCD when it comes to his focus and trying to do something new and original and with feeling and aesthetic and all that good stuff.”

  • The creators haven’t confirmed much about the plot of The Penguin. But, Reeves teased that the show will explore the origins of the Penguin, shedding light on how he became the criminal mastermind we see in The Batman.
  • This exploration of Oswald Cobblepot’s backstory will give audiences a deeper understanding of the character and his motivations. Alongside Farrell’s lead role, the rest of the star-studded cast will play important characters in the story’s progression.
