Elon Musk made a surprise announcement that he will be stepping down from his role as the CEO of Twitter. As soon as Elon Musk put out the tweet, speculation began to rise on who will be taking over the platform. In his post, Musk mentioned that ‘she’ will be taking over, implying that it is a female candidate. Insider sources report that the mystery woman in consideration for Twitter’s CEO role is Linda Yaccarino.Â
The billionaire tweeted that a new CEO will take over Twitter in a few weeks’ time. He also clarified what his new position will be at the microblogging platform. Elon Musk became the CEO of Twitter just a year ago and the leadership change has puzzled investors.Â
Elon Musk says he has found new CEO for Twitter
Elon Musk enthusiastically revealed that he is hiring a new CEO for X/Twitter. Earlier this year, Musk created a technology company called X Corp. It was made to take over Twitter, Inc. and is now a completely owned subsidiary of X Holdings Corp. X Holdings Corp. is also owned by Elon Musk.

He stated that this individual will begin their role in approximately six weeks. Musk then explained the change in his role. He will serve as executive chair and chief technology officer (CTO). In these roles, Elon Musk will oversee product development, software, and system operations.
In December 2022, Elon Musk posted a poll asking users to vote on whether he should step down as the head of Twitter. Surprisingly, 57.5% out of the total 17.5 million votes supported the decision. Following the results, Musk announced his intention to resign as CEO.Â

The SpaceX founder joked that he would quit once he found someone ‘foolish enough to take the job’. Influential YouTuber MrBeast responded to Musk’s latest tweet that he would like to take over as CEO if things don’t work out with the new candidate.Â
Who is Linda Yaccarino, the next Twitter CEO?
Although Elon Musk did not explicitly mention his successor, there have been reports linking Linda Yaccarino to the position. Yaccarino currently serves as the head of advertising at NBCUniversal. With over a decade of experience at the company, she played a significant role in the launch of the streaming service, Peacock.Â
Reports suggest that Yaccarino has expressed interest in the CEO position to her friends. She has been a Musk supporter even when he was slashing jobs. She has hosted him at conferences and discussed collaborating with Twitter for the next Olympics.Â
Linda Yaccarino’s expertise in ad sales could be valuable in addressing the decline in top advertisers’ spending on Twitter since Elon Musk took over as CEO. With Twitter facing layoffs and technical challenges under Musk’s leadership, Yaccarino would have a significant task ahead of her in resolving these issues.
