Virat Kohli, the run machine, has set another world record. He becomes the fastest player to achieve the 5000-run milestone at home. He has achieved this milestone in just 96 innings. Sachin Tendulkar reached this landmark in 121 innings.
On Sunday the ODI match Against West Indies, Virat was not good enough with the bat.  His innings lasted just 4 balls and he scored 8 runs, he smashed Alzarri Joseph for two back-to-back boundaries before being dismissed in the 5th ball of the 14th over. However, he scored 8 runs which made him the fastest player to reach 5000 runs in home ODIs. It’s like a daily routine for Virat Kohli to break and set new world records in cricket.

Virat Kohli now has 5002* runs in the home ODIs at an incredible average of 59.54 and a strike rate of 96.67, including 19 centuries and 25 half-centuries.

There are three other batsmen who have scored more than 5000 runs in their home ODIs.

Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has scored 6976 runs on his home soil and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has smashed 5521 runs in Australia. he took 138 innings to complete 5000 runs in home ODIs. Also, legendary Jacques Kallis has smashed 5186 runs in South Africa. He reached the milestone of 5000 runs in 130 innings.
