The announcement came during an interview on Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson Tonight. The platform is aimed at challenging the AI engine services from tech giants Microsoft and Google.
The launch of TruthGPT comes after Musk reportedly approached AI researchers in recent months to develop an alternative to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Musk has also created an artificial intelligence company called X.AI, headquartered in Nevada. However, his concerns over AI development have raised questions about their regulation in the industry.
Why did Elon Musk announce a ChatGPT alternative?
Elong Musk is actually one of the founding members of OpenAI, the research laboratory behind the revolutionary ChatGPT. However, he stepped down as chairman in 2018 over a conflict of interest. Since then, he has cut ties with OpenAI and has been pursuing his own AI projects.
Elon Musk revealed that the aim of TruthGPT is to create a “maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe”. Musk’s entry into the AI market has been eagerly anticipated by many, given his track record in the tech industry.
