Will BLACKPINK Jennie Go Solo? Trademark Application Explained

The girl group is still on the news, but this time, all the spotlight goes to their main rapper, BLACKPINK Jennie. In the midst of contract renewal issues between their group and YG Entertainment, numerous news regarding trademark applications and even villa purchasing circulated on November 14. With this trademark thing ongoing, is it possible that BLACKPINK Jennie will go solo? Here’s what we got!

What is Jennie Kim applying for?

This news spread earlier this year, last January to be specific, when BLACKPINK Jennie filed the trademark application. It can be seen on the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Info Service (KIPRIS) website that the girl group member applied for ten (10) trademarks for JENNIE RUBY JANE under her name, Jennie Kim. This resurfaced last Monday, along with BLACKPINK contract renewal news.

  • It’s a no-brainer what the trademark application is for. Since she filed these from January to March, it’s possible that she has made up her mind not to renew her contract with YG Entertainment this year. Interestingly, it could also be her plan to create a business with the same name. She has used JENNIE RUBY JANE with her other brand deals and even her acting career.

Each application BLACKPINK Jennie applied for has a particular classification. Here are the ten classifications she used for the JENNIE RUBY JANE trademark.

  • (43) Food and beverage service business
  • (28) Entertainment equipment, toys, video game equipment, gymnastics, and sports equipment; Christmas tree ornaments (She first applied for Classification Number 28 in January and again in March.)

  • (09) Science, research, navigation, surveying, photography, film, audiovisual, optical, metering, measurement, signal, detection, and testing. inspection, life preservation, and educational equipment; equipment for conducting, converting, transforming, accumulating, controlling, or controlling electricity distribution or use; equipment and equipment for recording, transmitting, reproducing, or processing audio/video or data; media that can be recorded and downloaded; computer software, empty digital or analog 71 lock and storage media; coin-operated machinery; cash registers, calculators; computers and computer peripherals; diving suits, diving masks, diving earplugs, divers and swimming nose clips, diving gloves, diving respirators; fire extinguishers

Will BLACKPINK Jennie pursue a soloist career?

By the looks of it, BLACKPINK Jennie is preparing for a soloist career with all these pending trademarks. It’s wise for her to file this under her name before YG Entertainment ever plans to apply for it, too. Moreover, it’s intriguing that she filed for classifications that sell various items or products. Could this mean that a JENNIE RUBY JANE company or entertainment is coming? That’s something we can find out soon!

  • After spending their years as BLACKPINK under the agency that’s been holding back each member’s potential, maybe it’s the right time to leave already. If this trademark means that Jennie Kim would go solo, we’re sure that all the brands under her belt and their fandom, the BLINKs, would support her all the way.
  • Have you heard about her buying a luxurious villa with pure cash? Well, who’s doing it like her?! BLACKPINK Lisa has also been reported to have purchased one, too. This news also circulated yesterday and had fans gasping about how wealthy these two members are.

Well, we can hear more tracks from Jennie with her creative inputs when she goes solo and maybe see more of her acting skills in the future. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for Jennie Kim!

Latest Update on BLACKPINK’s Contract Renewal

This resurfaced news earned quite a lot of discussions on what could happen to the YG Entertainment girl group. Apparently, the managers handling the BLACKPINK members have reportedly left the agency, sparking another set of rumors that the members didn’t renew their respective contracts.

Also, on November 14, the agency also released a new statement regarding the members’ pending contracts. YG Entertainment talked to Sports Chosun and said they are still negotiating with the artists. To lessen everyone’s thinking about when it would be confirmed, they added, “The final outcome will be revealed through the document regarding major management issues related to investments.”
