BLACKPINK Lisa and her Crazy Horse Paris performance rocked fans and the K-pop industry. Being the first idol to perform in the famed burlesque, it thrilled BLINKs; however, it opened to a few controversies recently. Apparently, Lisa has been banned on Chinese social media platforms. Had her Crazy Horse affected her career, especially in the Chinese market? Here’s what we know so far.
Is the Crazy Horse the cause for the K-pop idol’s Weibo account closing?
On November 3, 2023, news broke out that BLACKPINK Lisa’s Weibo account had been suspended. People can’t help but wonder if the recent cabaret performance was the reason behind this. When accessing her account, an error page says, “violated laws, regulations, and Weibo community agreement.” To clear things up, Lisa has not been banned from all Chinese social media platforms. Fans pointed out that only her Weibo account has been closed.

- According to reviews about Crazy Horse Paris, artists tend to perform with little to no clothing, with only lights and shadows serving as covers. But when Lisa took on the stage, the outfits worn still covered her.
Moreover, reported attendees of the burlesque show and famed actresses Angelababy and Zhang Jiani also had their accounts suspended on the platform. Weibo is a social media platform and one of the largest in China. Most of the time, K-pop artists who wish to reach their Chinese fans use the microblogging platform to interact with them, and one of them is Lisa.
As of this writing, user @lalalalisa_m on Weibo has been changed to user7330454276; all the millions of followers are gone, too. Meanwhile, other BLACKPINK members’ accounts, Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé, are up and running.
Fans speculate that BLACKPINK Lisa’s performances led to her banning on Chinese social media. The cabaret show may have been a bit too much for the Chinese censors, which led to their decision to suspend the idol’s account.
While her account is closed, several Chinese netizens took this time to throw hateful comments against the K-pop idol. When the news about Lisa’s Crazy Horse performance was announced, C-fans flooded her Instagram with unnecessary words.
The context of the 'I will always support you LISA" is because some of her C-fans are mad about her upcoming project with the crazy horse cabaret and flooding her Instagram post with negative comments

However, there is still no confirmed reason why the microblogging platform suspended her account. YG Entertainment, Lisa, or Weibo has yet to give any official statement regarding this matter.
BLACKPINK Lisa’s Cabaret Show in Paris
Although most fans have not had the chance to watch the performance live, BLACKPINK Lisa uploaded a couple of shots on her Instagram to give everyone a glimpse of her sultry performance. For the uninitiated, filming and photography are strictly prohibited for the Crazy Horse show.
- The K-pop girl group member completed a three-day show. She stunned the audience with different looks, including her solo performance, where Lisa wore a formal office outfit.
- The BLACKPINK member also wore black lingerie in one of the show’s performances. Not just that, she had two more outfit changes: the famous Crazy Girls wig and a pearls-designed bikini.
During this Crazy Horse stint, Lisa just carved her name on the history books of the K-pop and entertainment industry, too. However, there are some who are not fond of this memorable moment, including China’s social media platform, Weibo.
Will this affect Lisa’s career?
Honestly, it could affect her career right now, but it would probably not in the long run. Along with the news that BLACKPINK Lisa’s Weibo account was gone, brands under her belt, CELINE China and BVLGARI China, removed all their content that included the K-pop idol. With this, I could say that somehow, it will have a significant effect on her image, specifically in the China market. Hopefully, it will be resolved in a few months or a year.
- In K-pop, Chinese netizens often have the biggest fanbase among all fans, which greatly includes BLACKPINK. Their individual China bar (or fanbase) goes to great lengths, and the biggest, the Lisa China Bar, was said to have brought over a million in sales for Lisa’s solo debut way back in 2021. Some Lisa fans bought items their idol promoted to show their support and love for her. Unfortunately, their account on Weibo was reported to have been closed, too.
But a lot of the sales from MONEY and Lalisa is from lisa china bar (lisa china bar brought 1.2 million sales) I hope this does not effect the china bar

If Chinese fans have been the only market to react to BLACKPINK Lisa’s cabaret show negatively, there are probably millions of fans around the globe who will continue to support the idol. Also, luxury brands seem to keep her, including CELINE. This might be a rough road for Lisa, though, but I’m positive her career will get past this one in a jiffy *cross fingers*.
- While I agree that Lisa’s appearance at the Crazy Horse Paris should not be a big deal, each fan has their say and belief. I may appreciate Lisa’s performance as a showcase of her talents, but others may see it in a different light. But I hope that real fans of Lisa would stick with her through this current controversy as it also overlapped with BLACKPINK’s contract renewal issues with YG Entertainment. Although it seemed that Lisa was not too bothered with what was happening, she would probably like to hear her fans’ support through and through.
