Rugg captioned the video by writing:
“This is the world we live in. A woman gets assaulted and no one stands up for her. Why? Because if you fend off the criminal c**ckhead m*niac, you’ll be slandered, thrown in jail and the cr**khead will be celebrated as a hero.”
The video went viral on the platform, with over 1k retweets and 700 comments.
A user shared his views on the video and commented:

The woman assaulted in the NYC subway pleaded for help but to no avail
The 2022 video features a POC in cropped white hoodie, black leggings, and white sneakers clamoring inside an NYC subway car. The person screamed expletives at everyone. After pacing up and down inside the car they sat down beside a woman. As the woman tried to slide away from the person, they grabbed a fistful of her hair and hinted at her to sit down.
The entire ordeal was recorded by a subway commuter.

The trapped woman whispered to her fellow passengers and pleaded for help but to no avail. A few seconds later, the vandal ordered the woman to get up and shoved her away. They then proceeded to go the other way and kick at the train’s windows.
The man recording the video turned the camera towards himself and said:
“This is what I deal with. NYC, demons, you understand?”
The video ended after the train stopped at the Delancey Street/Essex Street station and the abuser disappeared in the crowd.
A commuter on the NYC subway sympathized with the woman and told news portal:
“My heart jumped into my throat when they grabbed that poor woman’s hair.”
While another added:
“I thought she was with him for a second that’s how nuts he was, I couldnt believe that poor woman was probably just frozen with fear in that moment.”
Netizens react to the video
Numerous Twitter users shared their thoughts about the video in the comments section of the Tweet. People criticized the person videographing the incident instead of helping the woman. Others condemned other passengers present inside the subway car. Here is their reaction.
Instead of making a video, do what‘s right.

Some shared grief on the video and sympathized with the victim, while some hinted at involvement of drugs. This is what they said:
Why do you make drugs so easily accessible but dont compensate for the chance of rehabilitation or actual mental health?
