The chain of retail stores under Bed, Bath & Beyond is coming to closure. And this comes from their updated list released on Tuesday. In that list, we saw over 118 stores scheduled for closure. Here’s the updated list of Bed, Bath & Beyond – All closed locations. This includes Buy Buy Baby and Harmon Face Value store closing as well.
The economic distress of Bed, Bath & Beyond calls for staff goodbyes along with store closures
- The housewares retailer, Bed, Bath & Beyond had previously announced in September that around 150 lower-producing stores across the US were going to be closed down.
- The plan then was to apparently cut down 20% of the supply chain staff, along with the physical stores themselves.
At the end of November, Bed Bath & Beyond had about 949 stores. 762 of these were Bed Bad & Beyond, 137 Buy Buy Baby, and 50 Harmon or Face Value stores.
The States that have the highest number of stores closing
A slight look at the Bed Bath & Beyond store closing list will tell you that the state which will be losing the most amount of stores in California, with about eight stores. Followed by Florida and then Michigan.
Buy Buy Baby and Harmon Face Values stores also closing
This comes today with the reveal that among the newly closed stores list, is included two Harmon Face Values stores in New Jersey.
Bed, Bath & Beyond has been operating Harmon and Buy Buy Baby for a while now. Among the closing list revealed on Tuesday, Buy Buy Baby is also there. With about six of them closing in New Jersey, Illinois, Arizona, Florida, and Virginia.
When will the stores close down
Bed, Bath & Beyond in themselves did not reveal when exactly the stores are closing down. What they instead presented was an earnings report on Tuesday. The report mentions 150 store closures by end of fiscal 2022, which is February-March.
Why Bed Bath and Beyond is closing stores
- The reason is atypically economic. Bed, Bath & Beyond has faced economic distress amidst a rising covid surge and rapid digitalization. As explained by Axios. The company has apparently not done enough to meet the expectations of the e-commerce industry.
What it takes to keep on running in a world where everyone is on social media. The traditional word-to-mouth and live marketing may be falling short. Brand presence on the internet seems to be an invaluable asset for any company now.
