Kuniskis stated that the supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8 in the Demon 170 is essentially entirely new to handle the power it produces. He also said:
“Only its camshafts and valve springs are unchanged from Dodge’s previous peak moment of lunacy, the 840-hp 2018 Challenger Demon.”

The Demon 170 is designed for drag racing despite being street-legal. Its Hemi engine is capable of generating a maximum of 1,025 horsepower and 945 pound-feet of torque.
