I was so lucky to work alongside Sir Michael Gambon in Robert Altman’s
Gosford Park.
Though he was in his sixties at the time and I was 25, we got along like schoolmates due to his irrepressibly youthful spirit.

Myself and my family had the pleasure of knowing and working with Michael Gambon. As well as being a mesmerising storyteller, he was an actor with gravitas and good humour in equal measure. #RIPMichaelGambon pic.twitter.com/yawQIbJG6C

Who is Michael Gambon?
Sir Michael Gambon is an Irish-British TV personality who was born on October 19, 1940, in Dublin. Before entering the world of show business, Gambon was an engineering technician and had a thing for collecting antique items like guns, clocks, watches, and cars. Even after many years, he was still passionate about this hobby.
In the 1960s, Gambon worked as a set builder in an amateur theatre in London. There, he began entertaining people by first joining screenplays in minor roles. He was even a ballet dancer, which he revealed during an interview with Top Gear. Slowly, Gambon became a household name in opera and was becoming more popular.
(Trivia: A Top Gear test track corner was named after him, the “Gambon Corner”).
In the late ’90s and early 2000s, Gambon’s career would peak after winning multiple Olivier awards, 1 Tony, and 1 Golden Globe trophy. In 1998, the celebrated actor was formally knighted by Prince Charles at the Buckingham Palace. Although he was known for being a versatile actor due to his different approach to his roles, Gambon will always be remembered as the beloved headmaster at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series. Throughout his career, Michael Gambon would be known as a Broadway icon, comedian, voice actor, and an established TV/movie actor.
