The latest installment in the Honkai series has already made its way to mobile as well as on PC. The brainchild of the developers behind the popular gacha game Genshin Impact is en route to making another fantastic free-to-play 3d turn-based RPG in Honkai: Star Rail. Despite being currently available on iOs, apple users who would love to have a knack at the latest game in the HoYoverse are wondering – Is Honkai: Star Rail going to be playable on Mac?
Is Honkai: Star Rail now available on Mac?
miHoYo’s Honkai: Star Rail is officially out and fans are jumping in on the hype. It is currently available for download on Google Play Store (Android) and App Store (iOs) for mobile gamers. Meanwhile, you can get it straight from their official website or through the Epic Games store if you want to experience it on your personal computer.

Moreover, it was also confirmed that Honkai: Star Rail will be available on PS4 and PS5 but a release date is not yet informed. However, we hate to be the bearer of bad news. For macOS users, unfortunately, Honkai: Star Rail is not yet available for download on Mac. Mac is not one of the supported platforms for the game and there is no information about it becoming an option in the future. Just like Genshin Impact, you won’t be able to download it on your Mac as of now. But, don’t get your hopes down. There are actually alternative ways how you can play Honkai: Star Rail on Mac! Three ways how to play Honkai: Star Rail on Mac
Because you can’t download Honkai: Star Rail on your Mac, why don’t you bring along a supported operating system to your Mac which can allow you to download the newest gacha game? (We’re talking about Windows!)
Incorporating the Windows OS on your Mac is not that hard. There are actually different ways how to turn your Mac into a Windows computer and it’s super easy!
Boot camp
First, we got the Boot Camp Assistant. Boot Camp is a multi-boot utility found on Apple devices such as the M1 Mac. Basically, by using Boot camp, you will be able to install Windows OS on your Mac and be able to run games, apps, and programs that are only available on Windows.

There are tons of guides on the internet on how to use Boot Camp on Mac, but we’re going to summarize it for you.
- On your Mac, open your “Utilities folder,” which is located in “Applications”
- Look for the “Boot Camp Assistant” tab and open it
- Once it’s opened, follow the steps for setting up Boot Camp
- Once the process is complete, restart your Mac device
- Finally, follow the instructions presented by Boot Camp Assistant
- You can now download Honkai: Star Rail on your Mac just like how you would download it on your Windows PC
Also, take note that this method may not work all the time as it only works for Intel-based Macs. That being said, give it a try, at least.
Parallels
If Boot Camp did not work for you, well we got one more trick for you. Introducing Parallels, “a fast, easy, and powerful application for running Windows on your Intel or Apple M-series Mac—all without rebooting”. With the help of Parallels, you can set up a Windows Virtual Machine. Parallels will let you download the game on Mac in a similar fashion to how you would download Honkai: Star Rail on PC.

However, with how great of a tool Parallels is, it is not perfect. You have to keep in mind that because it’s only a Windows portal tool, there’s a great chance you will not be experiencing the same level of performance as the PC version. Regardless, it is still a viable option if you really want to try out Honkai: Star Rail on your Mac. For added information, Parallels is not free and may cost you a hefty amount of money.
BlueStacks
BlueStacks app player is the most common cloud-based cross-platform product that allows you to run Android apps and/or games on your Windows or macOS-supported computers. It’s safe and it has been used by millions of people for many years now.
But, according to The Nerd Stash, BlueStacks will not work on Mac computers with M1 and M2 processors. In addition to that, Mac devices that are from 2014 or older will also not be allowing BlueStacks. Moreover, macOS 12 Monterey or macOS 13 may find it impossible to play Honkai: Star Rail even with the help of BlueStacks. Despite all that, one great thing about this tool is that it’s free! So, why not try it on your Mac and see how it goes?
