K-pop agency SM Entertainment is going to enter into a new league with the launch of broadcast content-producing company Studio White. The trendsetting agency is known for changing the winds of the K-pop Industry by continuously incorporating the newest technologies and trends into their creations. SM Entertainment will produce Survival and Reality shows
On December 22, Korean media outlet Newsen published the announcement that SM Entertainment has established Studio White. It will specialize in producing broadcast content as an in-house independent company. So, fans can expect to see the agency produce some innovative and entertaining shows in the near future.
The new studio will be spearheaded by several famous producers who have garnered a reputation for creating successful shows. The leading producers Go Ik-jo, Park Sang-hyeon, and Kim Na-yeon will bring their extensive knowledge about survival and audition shows to the table.
Producer Go Ik-jo has directed several seasons of Mnet’s rap and hip-hop audition program ‘Show Me The Money’ including seasons 2, 3, 5, and 6. He is respected for providing a stage to many well-known artists including DinDin, iKON Bobby, BewhY, Nucksal, Hangzoo, and more.
Producer Park Sang-hyeon is a veteran who has directed MBC’s ‘Excitement After School’ whose winners formed the group Classy. He also participated in numerous audition shows including ‘Produce 101’ and ‘High School Rapper.’
Meanwhile, Kim Na-yeon PD is famous for producing the dance reality show ‘Street Dance Girl Fighter.’ She has also directed and participated in the production of ‘High School Rapper,’ ‘Street Man Fighter,’ and ‘Produce 48.’
To support this venture, many more established producers have joined the team including Won Hyun-jung and Hwang Kyeong-hee from A9, Ha Jeong-won, Kim Yeon-woo, and Lee So-hee from Mnet.
What are Studio White’s plans?
The in-house independent company is going to produce many audition and survival shows in various fields of entertainment including K-pop idols, hip-hop artists, and even EDM (electronic dance music) performers.
Additionally, they will produce various reality and variety shows that will be available on OTT platforms for global audiences. Go Ik-jo, the CEO of Studio White shared that the new team is planning to produce more realistic audition shows that can cover the aspects of idol training in depth.
