The Marvels gets first teaser trailer: Easter eggs, release date, cast and more

The Marvels teaser trailer breakdown easter eggs

Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan team up to save the multiverse in the first teaser trailer of The Marvels. The 2-minute long clip promises some exciting girl-power action as the three heroes are all set to save the multiverse. The Marvels’ teaser trailer also offers a glimpse at some much-anticipated characters as well as Easter eggs to watch out for.

We haven’t seen Captain Marvel for a while. She was last seen in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Monica Rambeau gets her own powers in WandaVision and Kamala Khan becomes a hero in Ms. Marvel. Now, all three characters will join forces in The Marvels as they will work together to stop a new threat.

Breaking down the first teaser trailer of The Marvels

The trailer starts with a view of the SABER Space Station outside Earth’s atmosphere, which is a new creation for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Monica is on a mission outside the space station and initiates the first cosmic swap with Kamala Khan by touching the cosmic boundary. This is similar to Monica’s contact with the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation in WandaVision.

Zawe Ashton plays the movie’s villain, who wields a hammer similar to the one used by Ronan the Accuser from Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s possible that Ashton’s character is Ronan’s successor since he went rogue and died. The villain fights against the three heroes towards the end of the trailer.

Korean star Park Seo-joon plays a character in The Marvels trailer. The character is leading a group of fighters and followed by a group of Flerkens. This could mean they are heading into a big battle. The character’s role and intentions are still a mystery and not much is revealed about him.

Easter eggs and hidden details from the teaser trailer

Marvel Studios has a new logo that gives a hint about the movie’s story. The logo changes from “Studios Marvel” to “Marvel Studios” with a galactic effect. It signifies that in the movie, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau have their powers mixed up. They end up switching places with each other and teleporting.

We see Nick Fury’s office on the SABER Space Station briefly in the trailer. His desk displays some Marvel Cinematic Universe souvenirs. This includes the pager given to him by Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, which he used to summon her in Endgame.

The trailer also highlights the relationship between Carol and Monica, who seemed to have some tension in WandaVision. Monica is seen wearing the same Nine Inch Nails t-shirt that Carol wore in Captain Marvel, which references the 90s music that connected Carol and Monica’s mom Maria Rambeau.

Cast, crew and release date of The Marvels

Nia DaCosta is the director of The Marvels. She co-wrote the screenplay with Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells. The movie features Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan.

Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-joon also star in the film. The Marvels will be released in the US on November 10, 2023, as a part of Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
