Why are Fans Divided Over the Leaked GTA 6 Single-Player DLC?
With most players looking forward to the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, many gamers are turning to online forums to try and get an idea of what the upcoming game has in store for us. Over the weekend, the GTA 6 single-player DLC was the hot topic. First shared by Tez2, a renowned insider/leaker for GTA 6, they revealed that Rockstar is learning from their mistakes with GTA 5 and bringing back the single-player DLCs for their next project. Surprisingly, the fandom is divided over this leaked info, and it seems some players don’t want SP DLCs anymore.
Do fans not want GTA 6 Single-Player DLC anymore?
If we go back ten years ago, we wouldn’t be facing the same dilemma. Back then, GTA 5 didn’t have any single-player DLCs available, which was surprising considering the fact that the previous game had two of these expansions: The Lost and the Damned & The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Instead of a single-player DLC, GTA 5 went in the direction of releasing the online multiplayer mode. When they saw it was a massive success, Rockstar decided to scrap all plans for GTA 5 DLC and dedicated their time to polishing and releasing new and updated content for GTA Online.
However, this won’t be the case for GTA 6, as Tez2 clarified in the GTA Forums that Rockstar will go through with it. “Rockstar is already going with the same plan before. Episodic content with new map updates and expansions.”

This should be good news, right? Unfortunately, some gamers feel skeptical about this since GTA 6 single-player DLC may mean that Rockstar will cut out a significant chunk of the story and lock it behind paid expansion packs.
- This reason to worry is valid, as we’ve seen a similar practice in other single-player games like Far Cry New Dawn, where you have to use real-life money to purchase premium in-game currency called Far Cry Credits.
- Although some gamers are happy that single-player DLC may be a real thing in GTA 6, some are worried that Rockstar will use this as an attempt at cash grabs.
What can Rockstar do?
To avoid this problem, Rockstar can still stick to releasing the entire story with the base game. Then, they can launch the planned GTA 6 single-player DLC a year or two after the initial launch.
GTA 6 could be the last game in the series we experience in our lifetime, according to Rockstar developers, as they plan to constantly update the game with new online and single player missions, locations and cities after launch. pic.twitter.com/EYF2i8xDdK

- The DLC can focus on new characters and present new stories for players to enjoy, similar to how GTA 4’s story expansions had us control new protagonists.
- They can also follow in the footsteps of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Though players criticized the game length, Insomniac was able to deliver the entire story in the base game. It’s possible that their DLCs will focus on other villains to give players a fresh experience as they swing through New York City.
The GTA 6 single-player DLC can draw inspiration from these methods so that fans won’t think the possible $150 price tag on the game isn’t worth it. However, we don’t think gamers should be worried about that.
- Rockstar is known for paying attention to detail in the content they include in their games.
- Take a look at Red Dead Redemption 2. The amount of content in that game is mindblowing, and it’s definitely a game that will keep you occupied for days on end.
We have high hopes for the GTA 6 single-player DLC. Aside from a compelling story in the base game, there’s no doubt Rockstar will make sure everything goes well with GTA 6’s release.
